PDF Score Listen	Plutiods is my celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s use of a telescope. By representing plutoids (dwarf planets at the outer boundaries of the solay system), I am attempting to capture something of current discovery and dialogue in astronomy today. The four sections represent each of the four plutoids as officially designated in 2009. The musical ideas in each section represent my reaction to some aspect of the diety after which the plutoids are named. The names for the sections are: Pluto in the Underworld Haumea, Mother of Humanity Make-Make and the Cult of the Birdman Eris and the Golden Apple of Contention Plutoids was written for the Symphony Orchestra at Brigham Young Unversity, Dr. Eric Hansen, conductor, and was premiered December 2, 2009 at Brigham Young University.
