I will never forget sitting in Murray Boren’s theory class and hearing, for the first time, David Sargent’s Three of a Kind, for digital piano.  It opened up a new world to me.  I was delighted to later learn that there was actually another one - Four of a Kind, altogether.  In the spirit of emulation, gratitude, and celebration, I wrote these pieces as a gift to my mentor, colleague, and friend.  Each short movement touches on some aspect of Sargent’s effect on my own life and musicianship.
