| CORPUS CRYSTALLINUS was written for the first of Chistian Asplund’s Locust Salons that I attended, in July 2007. The title means “crystal body” and attempts to portray something both luminescent and glorious as well as fleshy and earthbound. Such is the view of the physical body this piece addresses. For now, at least, our bodies are often awkward, incompetent, quirkily kinetic, etc. But at times something of the eternal shoots through, anticipating the day when the whole globe will be as a sea of glass and our bodies as crystal. |
